One in the Same ~ Chapter 4
“I’m certain.”

You replied with a sweet smile. These guys really didn’t know what they were about to go up against. You each had a scarf and tied them around your foreheads as you entered the arena, you all also had a SOLDIER blade on your backs and drew them out. The setting around you formed and you were now in a new environment. Angeal decided to explain the game a little so everyone was on the same page,

“Alright, everyone gets a minute to run and hide. After the minute is up the match will begin, you can encounter someone else and try to obtain the scarf around their forehead. Whoever has the most flags at the end of the hour is the winner.”

“Alright, let’s do it!”

“Yeah!”

You and Genesis cheered as you were getting amped up for the match. Sephiroth remained in silence, he wanted to see what you were capable of before he did anything. Angeal counted down from three and everyone dispersed themselves in the facility. The location of the game was in a lush forest. You had hidden yourself high up in a tree out of sight, once the minute was up it didn’t take you very long to hear the clashing of swords. You decided to quietly pursue the noise and remain hidden. You found Genesis had already encountered Angeal and they were attempting to take the other’s headband as their swords clashed. Sephiroth was nowhere in sight, but he was secretly watching you from a distance as you watched Angeal and Genesis go at it. You decided to use this as an opportunity to grab someone’s flag. You swiftly made your way to Angeal and Genesis, their swords were locked together and Genesis was trying to convince Angeal of something,

“Why don’t we try to go after Sephiroth together? Then maybe for once, one of us will win rather than him.”

“You might be right, but then why did you try going after me anyways?”

The boys had started bickering in the middle of combat and had absolutely forgotten that you were even playing. They felt a gust of wind, then a split second later they both realized their flags were missing.

“Hey! Where did your headband go Angeal?”

“I was about to ask you the same thing Genesis!”

“Looking for these?”

They both turned around to find you standing a few yards away with both of their flags in one of your hands and your sword in the other.

“Woah (y/n), that’s some speed you have there.”

Angeal exclaimed, you tucked their flags in your back pocket and let them hang out a little so they could still be pulled, if anyone even got that close to you.

“Stand back Angeal, I would like to see what (y/n) has in her.”

Angeal stepped back and smiled, he was interested to see too. Genesis pursued you head on and you did the same in return. At first Genesis wasn’t giving it his all, his sword swings didn’t have much strength behind them as he attempted to strike you. You on the other hand were easily and flawlessly dodging and blocking every single swing he sent at you. Genesis noticed this and stepped up his game as he tried to retrieve the flag on your head or the ones in your pocket. As Angeal watched he was surprised of your skill and form, it actually reminded him of Sephiroth. Meanwhile, Sephiroth was still hidden. He watched in awe as you were dueling Genesis. Angeal spoke up as you and Genesis continued,

“Is Genesis no match even for a lady?”

He said jokingly as Genesis replied still going at it with you,

“Heh, she’s no ordinary woman Angeal. You want to give it a try?”

Genesis smiled as he leapt back from you, Angeal took his place and started going head to head with you in attempt to retrieve the flags. Sephiroth decided to come out of his hiding and made his way towards you and the others, he stood next to Genesis and watched as you were now clashing blades with Angeal. After a few minutes of failed attempts of grabbing your handkerchiefs Angeal retreated to where Sephiroth and Genesis were standing.

“Wow…. I really didn’t expect this at all. You do have a great amount of skill (y/n).”

Angeal smiled and exclaimed, you smiled in return, and then Genesis said,

“It is true, she possesses great skill. But what I wanna know is if she can keep her head against Sephiroth.”

Angeal and Genesis looked towards Sephiroth with anticipation on their faces, silently Sephiroth stepped forward and drew his sword. Even though Sephiroth admired your beauty, he told himself he wouldn’t let that hinder him from giving his best as usual. In your own head, you were thinking the exact same thing about him to yourself.
